# SteamDB API — Beyond What Valve Exposes

SteamDB tracks what Valve’s API never exposes — real-time and all-time peak player counts, historical price lows, sales with expiry dates, and full build history. These 6 endpoints return all of it as clean JSON, no SteamDB account required.

## What You Can Pull From SteamDB

/api/steamdb/apps Full SteamDB app record by Steam app ID — name, developer, publisher, genres, tags, categories, review counts (positive/negative/total), current players, 24h and all-time peak player counts, current price, historical low price, DLC count, and Steam Deck compatibility

/api/steamdb/apps/patches Build and patch history for a Steam application — each entry includes the build ID, patch title, publication timestamp, URL, and a flag indicating whether full patch notes are available

/api/steamdb/apps/search Search the SteamDB catalog by keyword — ranked app results with app ID, name, image URL, SteamDB page URL, Steam store availability flag, and last-updated timestamp

/api/steamdb/charts Live SteamDB player-count leaderboard — the top games ranked by current player count, each with rank, app ID, name, current players, 24h peak, and all-time peak

/api/steamdb/promotions Current free-game promotions and giveaways on Steam — each record includes app ID, sub ID, name, promotion type, and start/end timestamps for the promotion window

/api/steamdb/sales Current discounted Steam games — discount percentage, current price, deal type, rating, release date, historical-low flag, and sale start/end timestamps; optionally filter by minimum discount percentage

## Common Questions

How current is the player-count data?

/api/steamdb/charts and the current-players field in /api/steamdb/apps reflect SteamDB’s live leaderboard, updated in near real time by SteamDB’s own pipeline — typically within a few minutes of the actual count.

Does the app record include historical price data?

Yes — the price object carries currency, current_price, converted_price, and lowest_price, the all-time low recorded by SteamDB. For free-to-play titles current_price returns null; only lowest_price is populated. The sales feed adds an is_historical_low flag per game.

Can I query SteamDB from Claude, Cursor, or ChatGPT?

Yes. Every endpoint is available through the Anysite MCP server, so Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, and ChatGPT can call it directly — no configuration beyond connecting the server.
