## How the count is built

### Round by round, from several sources

Crunchbase records, regional fintech trade press in each market and registry filings, merged by company and date. A round reported twice counts once.

### One fintech boundary

Every company is classified from its own description into one segment taxonomy. Accelerators, general blockchain infrastructure and NFT projects are outside.

### One company, one region

Each company sits in the region of its operating headquarters, so a round is never counted in two regions.

### Trends found in the data

Shifts were screened across 1,560 comparisons and kept only if they stay significant after correction; 72 do.

We compared our counts with published benchmarks deal by deal and report where they differ and why. Match rate within each cited list:

**92.5%** United Kingdom 86 of 93 named deals

**100%** India 49 of 49

**100%** Southeast Asia 15 of 15

**83%** Africa 5 of 6
